Regular readers (of which I suspect there are none) will no doubt be thinking “I’m sure you said something about Cold Press coming out in March and it’s now May so you’re clearly a good-for-nothing layabout, more interested in watching Broadchurch than actually getting a move on.”
Well, there is a reason for the delay and it’s all curiously valid. Carrie, the esteemed editor, came back with some excellent suggestions to improve the sense of suspense and drama. So, I’ve been working to implement those, and some have taken a bit more writing and research than originally anticipated.
At the same time, as I’ve now started outlining the sequel, I needed to make some changes to ensure that the continuing characters have a logical and consistent “arc” (which sounds terribly pretentious).
The good news is that the deadline for the submission of the final manuscript is this coming Sunday. The bad news is that I’m not going to get to sleep before then. But it is much improved, so it is all worth it, and I can’t wait to hear what you think. Bear with me … not long now 🙂
